Community Action Center: Before and Beyond zine
Community Action Center, Before and Beyond is a new zine published by Högkvarteret, a Swedish headquarters for contemporary queer and feminist art. The zine emerges from their larger collaborative project of the same name, which largely revolves around A.K. Burns and A.L. Steiner’s film,Community Action Center. As a whole, the project is directed towards the goal of reorienting the language of pornographic films to exist within queer and feminist contexts.

“The project was presented in Stockholm during the summer of 2011 and took its point of departure from the amazing video performance piece Community Action Center, by A.K. Burns and A.L. Steiner. During three delirious summer nights a selection of socio-sexual films & videos was brought together and artists like Barbara Hammer, Marit Östberg, Malin Arnell, Kajsa Dahlberg and others were presented. The zine, partly documenting and partly extending the fathoms and correlations initiated within the project, is a fine result of those summer nights. Co-edited by Malin Arnell, Hanna Wilde and Clark Solack, the zine compiles different queer feminist voices and perspectiveson the renegotiation and complexification of the term porn. Presented within it, you find some of the artists, writers, curators and performers whose time, bodies and minds are crucial for our different and shared communities.”
